       TEACHING PRACTISE

  Day -1

.

As part of our B.Ed curriculum, we participated in a school teaching practice program. For Phase 1 of the practice, my friends and I were assigned to Government High School Pooyapally. Our team comprised four members: Anandhu from Natural Science, Anju from English, Rajini from Natural Science, and myself, representing Mathematics.

On the first day of teaching practice, I was filled with a mix of nervousness and curiosity, as it was my first real opportunity to stand before a class and teach. We began the day by meeting the respective subject teachers, who guided us through the school routines, expectations, and our assigned responsibilities. After receiving their instructions, we proceeded to our allotted classes.

I was scheduled to teach class 8B during the seventh period, which began at 3:10 pm. and concluded at 4:00.p.m. As it was my first teaching experience in a real classroom setting, I felt quite anxious. However, once I began the lesson, I gradually gained confidence. The students were attentive, responsive, and actively engaged throughout the session, which made the class enjoyable and meaningful. Their enthusiasm helped ease my nervousness and gave me a sense of encouragement and motivation.

In the afternoon, all four of us were assigned meal-serving duty, which provided us with a unique opportunity to interact with students outside the classroom environment. It also helped us understand the school’s daily functioning and routines more closely.

Later in the day, I was entrusted with the responsibility of assisting in organizing a quiz competition on the theme of population, in connection with World Population Day. I was thrilled to be part of this co-curricular activity, as it allowed me to contribute beyond classroom teaching and explore a more holistic approach to student engagement.

Our official school duties concluded at 4:00 p.m, after which we signed out and returned. It was truly a memorable and enriching first day. The experience not only gave me a glimpse into the real challenges and rewards of teaching but also strengthened my resolve to grow as a professional educator.

*Day -2*

Today was the second day of my teaching practice. I had a class with Grade 8B during the 3 rd period, from 11:25 amto12:10 pmPM. The lesson went smoothly, and I was able to engage the students effectively.

In the afternoon, I was assigned meal-serving duty. The meal for the day included *thoran*, *theeyal*, and rice, which was well-received by the students.

Additionally, we had discipline duty during each interval. It was a good opportunity to observe student behavior outside the classroom and ensure a safe and orderly environment throughout the class

*Day -3 (16/07/2025)*

As it was the third day of my teaching practice, I was more interested and enthusiastic to take classes. Today there is a morning assembly.

In the afternoon, we had meal-serving duty. Today’s meal was special—it consisted of fried rice and chicken curry. We were also served chicken curry with our meal.

I had a class during the last period with my assigned class, 8B, from 1:30pm to 2:15  PM.

It was a pleasant and fulfilling day for me.

**Day -4 (17/07/2025)**

The fourth day of my teaching practice began today. As usual, we had discipline duty during each interval.

We were also assigned meal-serving duty. The meal for the day consisted of **choru**, **pulissery**, and **soybean curry**.

I took a class during the 6th period, which was from 3:10PM to 4:00 PM. Since it was in the afternoon, the students appeared a bit lazy, but I managed to keep them engaged and actively involved  in the class.

**Day -5 (18/07/2025)**

Today, we had no classes due to an educational strike organized by student organizations **KSU** and **ABVP**. The strike was held in response to the tragic death of a student in Thevalakkara, Kollam, yesterday, caused by an electric shock.
